Beautifully ringing guitar work from Ali Farka Toure – accompanied by his unique vocal inflections, and expanded with a bit of chorus vocals or other instrumentation on a few selections here! Yet throughout, the recording style remains incredibly stripped-down and spare – so that both the guitar and vocals have this resonant quality that's really amazing – almost with the sense of space of a kora, as Ali brings this incredibly powerful tone out of the instrument – always dominating the proceedings, even as the recording adds in a few other elements.
