Description
The second album for Stone Temple Pilots was released in 1994 and achieved great success debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart - remaining there for three weeks. The album produced several successful singles including "Vasoline, "Interstate Love Song", and "Big Empty".
The group shifted away from the grunge-oriented sound of their debut on their sophomore effort to a more alternative rock style with psychedelic and southern rock influences.
Purple was ranked number 438 in Rock Hard magazine's book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time" in 2005.
